Mesquite Woman Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-20

EASTLAND, TX — A 30-year-old woman from Mesquite, Texas, died following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Eastland County early Saturday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Rachel Alice Rue was driving a 2016 Mazda 3 sedan westbound on I-20 when the crash happened at around 7 a.m. near the 338-mile post.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Rue attempted to return to the right lane after passing another motorist but continued steering north, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway and strike several trees.

Rue, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:16 p.m. by Dr. Graig Daniel.

The weather conditions were clear, and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
