Two Killed in High-Speed Crash in Odessa

ODESSA, TX — Two people were killed in a high-speed crash late Friday night after their vehicle lost control and collided with Bowie Middle School.

This happened around 11:30 p.m. on July 12, when Odessa Police responded to a major crash at the intersection of 22nd Street and Golder Avenue.

According to information, a black 2018 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on 22nd Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The car struck a street sign and the north fence of Bowie Middle School before continuing through the fence and hitting the west side of the school building, where it finally came to rest.

Both the driver and the front passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet notified the next of kin.

Preliminary investigations indicate that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
