Fatal Eastland County Crash Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

 

EASTLAND, TX — A two-vehicle crash on Farm to Market Road 2214, six miles south of Eastland, Texas, resulted in one fatality and three injuries this morning.

This happened just before 11 a.m. when a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Keven Lee Howton, 29, of Strawn, Texas, collided with a 2008 Lexus RX5.

The Lexus was driven by Donald Ray Lucas, 74, of Eastland, Texas, who was accompanied by his wife, Brenda Lynn Lucas, 65.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Howton's vehicle was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line in a no-passing zone, striking the northbound Lexus. All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.

Both drivers sustained non-incapacitating injuries and were treated and released. However, Brenda Lynn Lucas was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:43 p.m. by Dr. Kevin Meigren.

The posted speed limit on the road is 60 mph, and at the time of the accident, weather conditions were clear and the roads were dry.
