Abilene Man Dies in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash

 

ABILENE, TX – An Abilene man has passed away from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash, according to the Abilene Police Department. 

This happened today just before noon when a 58-year-old man was driving a Mazda CX5 south in the 9800 block of West Lake Road when the vehicle he was driving went off the roadway.

The vehicle went into the other lane and eventually rolled over several times before ejecting him from the vehicle.

Passing motorists stopped to assist the man but could not pull him away from the wreckage. The vehicle had caught fire, severely injuring the driver. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased.

Next of kin notification has been made. The man is identified as 58-year-old Ebony Montrain Kellum. 

He was the single occupant of the vehicle when the crash occurred. The cause of the crash and the cause of the fire remain under investigation. 

No other injuries were reported. Kellum is not believed to have been wearing his seat belt.
