Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Big Spring

BIG SPRING, TX — A 31-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in Big Spring.

This happened on June 8, around 4:30 a.m., when officers from the Big Spring Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Owens Street following reports of a vehicle-pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, officers found Daniel Scott, a 31-year-old male, deceased at the scene.

According to a friend who was present, he and Scott were walking home southbound on N. Owens when a dark-colored pickup truck traveling northbound struck Scott. The vehicle briefly slowed down before speeding up and fleeing the area. The driver failed to stop and render aid, leaving the scene of the crash.

The Big Spring Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division responded to the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect vehicle is a 2015-2020 dark-colored Chevrolet 1500 extended cab, which will have front and undercarriage damage.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the driver or vehicle to contact CrimeStoppers at (432) 263-TIPS (8477). Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the “P3 Tips” mobile application or at www.p3tips.com/1277.

The investigation is ongoing.

There was a time not so long ago that if a person made a mistake and caused an accident they would stop and try to help anyone that might need it or at least wait for police to arrive. Now, it seems the most important thing is GET AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND MAYBE YOU WON'T GET CAUGHT.

Big Spring Texas at 4:30am Saturday morning, the driver was intoxicated and the pedestrians were both dressed in black not wanting to be seen.
