Multiple Wildfires Rage Across Panhandle

 

AMARILLO, TX — Emergency response teams are mobilizing across the Panhandle to address multiple wildfires intensified by strong winds.

Gray County

As wildfires escalate in the area, Lefors Independent School District (ISD) is taking precautionary measures by evacuating students to the Rodeo Grounds in Pampa. A Facebook post from the school district indicates that parents can pick up their children from the buses stationed at the Rodeo Grounds.

Armstrong County The Juliet Pass fire, covering approximately 750 acres, remains uncontained at 0%, as reported by the Texas A&M Forest Service incident map. Authorities have closed Highway 207 in both directions near 207 and Lima Road due to a fire south of Claude.

Hutchinson County

Recent updates state that Highway 136 north of Stinnett has reopened. The fire continues to move east and northeast away from the community. Officials from the City of Borger and Hutchinson County Office of Emergency Management report ongoing efforts to control a wildfire north of Stinnett, located near Highway 136 and County Road O.
