Kenneth Mitchell, a beloved actor renowned for his outstanding performances in Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel, has passed away at the age of 49 after bravely battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The sad news was confirmed by Mitchell's family through his X account on Saturday, February 24.
The family shared the announcement via Twitter: "With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend."
Recognized for his versatility and talent, Mitchell made significant contributions to the Star Trek franchise, leaving a lasting impact on fans globally. He portrayed memorable characters such as the formidable Klingon warrior Kol and the compassionate scientist Aurellio across multiple seasons of Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Beyond his television success, Mitchell's talent extended to the big screen, notably with his portrayal of Joseph Danvers in the 2019 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain Marvel, where he played the father of Carol Danvers.
The late actor also graced the small screen with his presence in shows such as Jericho, The Astronaut Wives Club, Ghost Whisperer, and Switched at Birth.
