Mom, Daughter Injured When Drunk Plows into Their Toyota on Downtown Street

SAN ANGELO, TX — A partying man started partying too early before he headed downtown. He ended up cuffed in the back of a San Angelo Police Department cruiser after plowing his big ‘ol pickup into the back a Toyota Highlander with a mom and her little girl.

The crash happened on Chadbourne near College St. downtown. Both mom and the daughter in the Toyota were rushed to Shannon ER.

The Highlander, traveling south, was stopped for the red light and police said the truck failed to control speed causing the driver to hit the Toyota from behind.

When police arrived, they immediately suspected the pickup driver was drunk. He failed the eye test, the heel-to-toe walk and couldn’t balance himself on one leg. As a result of the failure of the field sobriety test, he was busted and arrested for transport to the Tom Green County Jail.

The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. and Chadbourne St. was fully open by 5:15 p.m. The skies were clear and roadways dry.
