WEAVERVILLE, N.C. - The tragic death of a 26-year-old North Carolina woman, Carolina Bree Franks, has left family members in mourning after she got trapped in car wash equipment during her shift at Zips Car Wash in Weaverville. N.C..
Franks, who had been working at the car wash for about five months, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred when she got entangled in a piece of equipment while cleaning at the car wash.

Ernestine Franks, the victim's grandmother who raised her since the age of 6, received the shocking news from Michael King, Bree Franks’ boyfriend’s father. Franks had just visited her grandmother in Kentucky for a couple of days before the tragic incident.
“She enjoyed her job. She said it was a good job. She was special. She loved everybody. She loved animals. She’s just a nice young lady,” said Ernestine Franks, describing her granddaughter.
The North Carolina Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health has been notified of the incident and is leading the investigation. Zips Car Wash, in a statement, expressed condolences and mentioned that they are cooperating with investigators. The Weaverville location of Zips Car Wash remains closed.
