COLEMAN, TX – A head on Crash at 6:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 21, took the life of one person and injured another about three miles east of Valera on US 67 in Coleman County.
The deceased was 48-year-old Phillip Scott Mayfield from San Antonio Texas. The injured person was 57-year-old Demmit Clayborne Gray.
According to DPS investigators, a 2016 Ford F-350 pickup was traveling West on US 67, while the second vehicle, a 1999 Freightliner 18 wheeler, was traveling East on US 67. The driver of the F-350 pickup drove into the wrong side of the roadway in a no passing zone crashing head on into the 18 wheeler.
Weather conditions were clear and the road conditions were dry and investigators did not report a suspected reason for the incident.
