High Speed Chase Ends with One Dead in Crash in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured after a high-speed collision ended in East San Angelo on Thursday afternoon.

According to law enforcement officers at the scene, a white pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed on US-87 through Concho and Tom Green Counties just before 3 p.m. Thursday.  Officials reportedly clocked the vehicle traveling over 112 mph as it passed through Wall.  

The chase ended on the outskirts of San Angelo in the 300 block of US-87 South when the white pickup left the roadway, proceeded to roll over, and crashed into an overhead signpost. Officers stated that the driver, a 37-year-old male, was ejected, and the passenger, a 36-year-old male, was trapped inside the vehicle. 

Law enforcement officers administered CPR at the scene until medical personnel arrived. Ambulances transported the two people to Shannon Medical Center, where the driver was pronounced dead. The status of the passenger is still unknown.

Texas Dept. of Safety Troopers were first on the scene.  San Angelo Police, firefighters, and two ambulances responded as well.
