Florida Man Drowns While Noodling in West Texas

BRECKENRIDGE, TX – A Florida man died while noodling on Hubbard Creek Lake last week.

According to the Stephens County Sheriff's Office, on Sep. 20, 2023, Michael Henry Hanlon, 45, of Florida, died while hand fishing.

Witnesses told SCSO deputies that they saw the man asking for help, but by the time they could get a life jacket, he was already underwater.

The body was recovered by SCSO shortly after being reported missing.

Hanlon's emergency contact in Florida told the Breckenridge American that "it was unknown why Hanlon was in Breckenridge. Roach said Hanlon was released from a jail facility in Florida in April and Hanlon was suspected to be transient."
