UPDATE: Hit and Run Kills Texas Police Officer

 

ARLINGTON, TX – An Arlington Police Officer on Thursday morning was hospitalized after he was run over on I-20.

According to multiple reports, on Sep. 21, 2023, an APD officer was riding his motorcycle to work on I-20 near the St. Augustine Dr. exit when he hit the back of a vehicle. The officer fell off his bike and was then hit by another vehicle.

That car then left the scene. Police do not know the driver of the vehicle but did confirm the vehicle was a dark-colored sedan.

The officer was rushed to Baylor Scott & White for treatment. Currently, a wall of officers was waiting near the front door. Also, the media is reporting the Mayor of Arlington, Jim Ross, is also at the hospital.

The officer who was hit is a longtime officer for APD for over two decades and was a motorcycle cop for 13 years.

UPDATE 11:38 A.M.:

The Arlington Police Department has confirmed that Officer Darrin McMichael passed away as a result of the crash.
