One Dead Following Rollover Crash Near Cisco

CISCO, TX – One person is dead following a fatal crash just east of Cisco on Interstate 20.

According to the Department of Public Safety, on September 20, 2023, at 12:15 p.m., about half a mile east of Cisco, a 2006 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound when the driver drove off the northside of the roadway.

The driver, identified as 76-year-old Charles Leslie Bowen, of Hickory Creek, Texas, then steered back toward the south, crossing both lanes of the road and entering the center median, striking the dividing cable barrier and rolling over. Bowen’s vehicle came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.

Bowen was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace John Glenn, and Bowen’s vehicle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The weather was clear, and the roads were dry at the time.
