Teen Killed in Rainy Crash Near Snyder

SNYDER – A 16-year-old driver died in a single vehicle crash outside Snyder in Scurry County early Saturday morning on a rain slick roadway.

According to Texas DPS Sgt. Couch, 16-year-old Isiah Mendoza of Snyder was driving west on CR-132 just outside Snyder around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.  His 2007 Nissan Altima failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the pavement.  The vehicle traveled off an embankment and struck a bridge support landing in a drainage ditch.  The DPS investigation shows evidence of intoxication so a blood sample was collected.  The investigation is ongoing.

Mendoza was pronounced deceased at the scene by Scurry Co. Justice of the Peace Joe Lay at 10:14 a.m.
