Tiny Smart Car Crushed in Crash with Big Truck

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A Smart Car was crushed on Monday afternoon after a Chevy Silverado ran a red light on north Chadbourne.

According to the San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Richard Espinoza, on Aug. 28, 2023 at around 2 p.m., San Angelo Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 14th and N. Chadbourne for the report of a major crash.

A white Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a white Smart Car crashed in the middle of the intersection. The truck was occupied only by a 24-year-old male driver. He was uninjured.

The Smart Car had two women; one in her 30s and one in her 40s. Both were taken to Shannon Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. The driver of the Smart Car had to be extracted by San Angelo Fire Fighters. 

The driver of the truck was cited for running the red light.

When you run a red light causing injury or death the penalty should automatically be more than a traffic fine. Jail time should be involved. Running red lights has become a sport here in SA...
