BOULDER, CO – A San Angelo Man is in critical condition after he fell 300 feet while rock climbing in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
According to multiple reports, on Aug. 12, 2023, emergency crews with the Colorado Air National Guard were dispatched to a couloir inside Rocky Mountain National Park between Longs Peak and Mount Meeker for the report of a fall victim.
Once on scene, the crew discovered two victims a man and women in their 20s. The woman was deceased while the man had critical injuries after falling 300 feet while descending down the couloir.
The man was taken by helicopter to a Flight for Life air ambulance at Upper Beaver Meadows and then was flown to Medical Center of the Rockies. Extraction did not happen for the woman until Aug. 14 after weather stopped crews the day prior.
No names were given but identifiers listed the woman as a 21-year-old from Severance, Colorado and the man as a 25-year-old from San Angelo.
