SAN ANGELO, TX – A dog riding shotgun escaped a major crash Tuesday afternoon on Glenna without any injuries.

According to our reporters on the scene, on Aug. 1, 2023, at around 2 p.m., officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Glenna and Mercedes for the report of a major crash. Once on the scene, the officers discovered a black Audi and a Dodge Dakota that had crashed near the intersection.

The Audi pulled over in front of the G&G Automotive on the 1100 block of Glenna, while the Dakota was a few yards down the road.

The Audi was occupied by two people and a dog. The passenger of the Audi was taken to the hospital but only as a medical precaution. Also in the Audi was a large dog. No injuries were reported for the pup. No one in the Dakota was injured.

San Angelo Police Traffic Division Sergeant Daniel Welch confirmed with reporters that an employee from G&G Automotive was backing out a customers vehicle and failed to yield the right of way to the Audi. He was cited for the crash.
