1 Dead in Rainy, High Speed Rollover Crash near Ranger Hill on I-20

 

RANGER, TX – Two passengers in a Toyota pickup were ejected as it rolled down an embankment on I-20 two miles east of Ranger Monday killing one of the passengers.  

According to information from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Marc Couch, the 2019 Toyota Tundra pickup driven by 52-year-old Fernando Vidal-Jimenez of Balch Springs was traveling east on I-20 an an unsafe speed for the wet roadway, two miles east of Ranger in the rain. 

Vidal-Jimenez lost control of the vehicle driving off the south side of the roadway down an embankment and overturning multiple times.  Two of the back seat passengers were not wearing a seatbelt and both were ejected from the pickup. 

33-year-old Kenwil Silva of Balch Springs was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Vidal-Jimenez and the other two teen passengers were seriously injured and transported to local hospitals.
