Trailer Burns at KOA in Wind Driven Grassfire

SAN ANGELO, TX – A grassfire driven by high winds burned down a trailer at the KOA on Monday afternoon.

According to our reporters on scene, on Feb. 20, 2023, at around 2 p.m., firefighters with the San Angelo Fire Department, along with officers with the San Angelo Police Department, were dispatched to 6699 Knickerbocker Rd. for the report of a structure fire.

When they arrived to the KOA, then crew discovered a utility trailer had caught on fire near other structures. Along with the trailer a small grassfire started that threatened other RVs at the park.

Crews were able to get the fire under control before anything else caught on fire.

Current high winds and dry conditions are increasing the probabilities of fire so always remember to be careful. Also note the Burn Ban in Tom Green County is not currently in effect.
