Passenger Killed After Truck Rolls Into the Llano River

 

TELEGRAPH – A 28-year-old passenger was killed Thursday morning after the truck he was in rolled into the Llano River on US 377 near Telegraph.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Oct. 13 at 2:27 a.m., troopers with the Texas DPS were dispatched to US 377, about four miles southwest of Telegraph, for the report of a major crash.

When the troopers arrived, they discovered a 2010 Chevy Silverado that had rolled into the Llano River. Crews began to save the men inside of the truck. Four of the five were taking to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

One passenger, Jorge Luiz Moreno Lopez, 28, was pronounced dead on the scene. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt. Also the DPS listed his residency as unknown.

Preliminary investigation shows that the truck was traveling NB on US 377. The truck left the roadway in a sharp curve and overturned coming to rest on its roof in the South Llano River.

At the time of the crash the road was dry and the weather was clear. At this location the speed limit posted is 55 mph.
