Biker Charged with Negligent Homicide After Running Over Homeless Man

 

ABILENE – The Taylor County District Attorney's Office has charged a motorcyclist with criminally negligent homicide for a 2019 crash where a homeless man was struck and killed by a motorcycle.

According to multiple reports, on Aug. 19, Damien Wood, of Snyder, will be arraigned today at a Taylor County Courthouse for the new charges.

Wood is accused of killing 48-year-old Ronald Crane, of Abilene, on Jun. 1, 2019 at around 11:15. Wood, who was operating a motorcycle allegedly ran over Crane while he was crossing S. 1st Street in Abilene. 

Wood was also injured in the crash. The DA's office has confirmed that the charges were filed after evidence showed that Wood was speeding at the time of the crash.
