WATCH: Fire Destroys Grape Creek Doublewide Mobile Home Friday

GRAPE CREEK – Fire destroyed a doublewide mobile home in Grape Creek Friday evening while firefighters searched for an individual who was thought to be in the residence.

According to Jose Rivera with the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters from Grape Creek and Carlsbad were dispatched to the home on Bluebonnet Ave. and Tulip Ave. in Grape Creek around 8:10 p.m.

When they arrived, residents told firefighters they thought someone was still inside so volunteers initiated a rescue operation.  Rivera says that operation was difficult because of the heavy fire and smoke in the structure.

During the operation firefighters determined that all residents were outside the structure and accounted for and no one was left inside.

Firefighters then continued to extinguish the blaze but it was difficult because the fire had spread underneath the mobile home.

The mobile home was a total loss. There was a heavy law enforcement presence at the location.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
