Mother’s Day Crash Results in One Fatality

 

ABILENE, TX – A 64-year-old Abilene man was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon. 

According to the Abilene Police Department, on Sunday, May 8, at 5:20 p.m., Officers of the APD’s Patrol and Traffic Division responded to a major motor vehicle crash in the 6000 block of US Highway 83/84.

A 2003 Ford F-150 was entering the southbound lanes prior to Antilley Road. The pickup veered off the roadway to the left, traveled through the grass median, and continued in a southeast direction.

The vehicle crossed two lanes of traffic and struck the center concrete barrier. The driver, 64-year-old Donald Neil Chick of Abilene, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt and intoxication is unknown at this time. Next of kin notification has been made.

There were no other vehicles involved in this crash and the investigation is ongoing.
