DPS Releases Report on Clayton Weishuhn's Fatal Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas DPS released a preliminary report about the crash that killed Clayton Weishuhn, 62, of Wall.

According to the report, Weishuhn was driving a 2001 Dodge 2500 Pickup northbound on Mikulik Road when, for an unknown reason, he drifted into the east side ditch. Weishuhn apparently corrected, and then over corrected, causing the pickup to skid across the roadway into the west side ditch. The momentum of the correction further propelled the pickup into the adjacent field where the truck rolled over to the right. The truck came to a stop upright, facing south. Weishuhn was ejected from his truck during the rollover and DPS reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Justice of the Peace Susan Werner pronounced Weishuhn dead at the scene.

Troopers from the San Angelo office of the Texas DPS investigated the crash. They were assisted by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. The San Angelo Fire Department and Wall Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.

The roadway was dry and it was before sunset at 7:05 p.m. April 22, 2022 when the crash happened. The speed limit along this stretch of Mikulik Road is 60 mph, DPS reported.
