SAN ANGELO – Children at the Rio Vista Head Start Early Child Care Center at 2800 Ben Ficklin Rd. in San Angelo were evacuated Tuesday morning because of a fire scare at the facility.

Firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire at the day care center.

Watch video from the scene below:

Sources at the scene say a malfunctioning air conditioner was the cause for the call for a structure fire.

The Rio Vista Head Start and Early Head Start programs are funded by the Concho Valley Council of Governments and serves infants, toddlers and pre-kindergarten children.

Reporters at the scene say children were seen outside the building but there was no smoke or visible flames.

It appears there were no injuries and no visible damage.

The San Angelo Fire Marshall's office is investigating.
