DPS: I-20 Backed Up Over 20 Miles After Icy Crash

ROSCOE, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging drivers to avoid the area of I-20 between Roscoe and Trent.

According to the DPS, as of 3 p.m. on Feb. 3, there is a traffic backup from Roscoe in Nolan County to Trent in Taylor County.

"This is due to multiple issues such as poor roadways, immobilized and/or crashed vehicles," stated  Fredrick Biddle, Safety Education and Media Sergeant with the Texas DPS. "Please ask public to avoid traveling all together if possible.  If they must travel, please worn them of the extended delay and the possibility of future delays as conditions will remain poor into tomorrow."

An Abilene news station reported that cars could be seen for miles.

Sgt. Biddle also stated that it was unknown when the backup would clear up.
