BREAKING: Two Killed Overnight in Bizarre Double Crash Near Central

SAN ANGELO, TX –– A fatal motor vehicle crash closed down part of Loop 306 overnight.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area near Central High School at 1:29 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene they located a Red Kia Sportage in the parking lot of the high school. The Kia had struck multiple large rocks located in front of the school and became disabled.

SAPD confirmed the driver, identified as 45-year-old Raphael Salas from Del Rio, discharged a firearm inside his vehicle for unknown reasons. No damage was reported to public property from the gunshots.

Officers later discovered Salas ran onto Loop 306 and was struck by a white Honda Accord.

The impact caused the driver of the Accord to veer off the road and strike a large sign. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Salas and the driver of the Accord succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Accord has not been identified at this time as authorities work to notify next of kin.
