Woman Not Wearing Seatbelt Killed In Early Morning Crash

 

ODESSA, TX – An early morning crash in Odessa claimed the life of one young woman and left four others injured early Thursday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred near mile marker 111 on I-20 in Odessa at approximately 12:02 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned five passengers were traveling aboard a Honda Accord. When one of the tires on the car blew out, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

The driver and three of the passengers were seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. A fourth passenger, 22-year-old Sarah Cortez, died at the scene.

According to DPS, no one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
