Traffic Diverted After Major Accident Closes Down US Hwy 67

 

SAN ANGELO, TX –– Traffic is being diverted from US Hwy 67 after a major motor vehicle accident caused both lanes of traffic to be shut down near the intersection with Harriett Road.

At 11:00 a.m. the Tom Green County Sheriff's issued a Nixel Alert asking drivers to avoid the area. Traffic leading to the area was significantly backed up and reporters were not permitted to approach the area.

Approximately an hour and a half later, the sheriff's office issued a second Nixel stating traffic would be diverted. 

Eastbound traffic will be diverted to FM 380, then to City Farm Road, and back to U.S. 67 Eastbound. Westbound traffic will be diverted to FM 1692 (Tennyson Road), to Orient Road, and then back to U.S. 277 Southbound. 

Authorities have not provided an update of when the area will be re-opened for regular traffic.
