Drunk Boater Runs Over, Injures Child on Lake Nasworthy

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The holiday weekend left a child injured in San Angelo during a boating accident on the Fourth of July on Lake Nasworthy.

According to SAPD, the 9-year-old boy fell off the front of the boat while it was in motion. This caused the boat's propeller to strike the child causing serious bodily injury.

When officers arrived at the scene they applied a tourniquet to the injury and the child was transported to Shannon Medical Center. According to police, the child is in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the boat, identified as 30-year-old Jose Alvarado, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The Odessa native was arrested and charged with Intoxication Assault With A Vehicle Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.

Alvardo was released after posting a $35,000 bond.
