WINTERS, TX – Three people were killed Sunday night following a head-on crash between a Tahoe and a Ford Edge near Winters, TX.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Jun. 13 at around 10:20 p.m., troopers with the Texas DPS were dispatched to SH-153, six miles west of Winters, for the report of a major crash.
When the troopers arrived they discovered a 2020 Ford Edge and a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe that had crashed in the middle of the highway. The Edge had caught fire and there were multiple individuals severely injured.
In the Edge two children ages 12 and 9 were transported to Hendrick Medical Center with critical and incapacitating injuries. The driver of the vehicle, Marisa B. Ramos, 20, of Plainview, a passenger, Cissy L. Ramos, 46 of Plainview, and a seven year old girl were pronounced dead at the scene. All of their bodies were taken to the Winters Funeral Home.
The driver of the Tahoe, Francisco Galvan-Trevino, 51, of San Antonio, was taken to Hendrick Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.
The DPS confirmed that the Tahoe was traveling east on SH-153 while the Edge was traveling west. At some point the Tahoe attempted to pass several vehicles and crashed head on with the Edge. This lead to the Edge catching on fire.
It is unknown at this time if criminal charges will be filed against the driver of the Tahoe. In Texas there are multiple criminal charges that involve vehicle crashes that lead to deaths including vehicular manslaughter and accident involving death.
