WATCH: Driver Trapped in Big Rig Crash Near San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The driver of an 18-wheeler belly dump truck had to be cut out of the cab when the rig overturned while turning onto US-277 from FM-2105 northeast of San Angelo.  

The rig spilled its load onto the highway.  

Firefighters and first responders took almost an hour to extricate the driver who was trapped in the cab.  Unconfirmed reports from the scene say the driver suffered eye and leg injuries.

First responders from the San Angelo Fire Department joined Quail Valley volunteer firefighters, Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers at the scene.  

TxDOT and Reece Albert crews were on scene cleaning the roadway.  

Traffic was backed up on US-277 all the way to US-67 while responders cleared the scene.
