High Speed Chase Ends with the Arrests of Illegal Aliens

EASTLAND, TX – A routine traffic stop in Cisco led to a multi-agency effort on Friday evening ending with arrests of illegal aliens.

According to law enforcement, the traffic stop was initiated in Cisco after local police attempted to stop a red Chrysler Mini-Van for allegedly driving erratically.

The driver of the van failed to stop and fled down I-20. After leaving Eastland, the pursuit entered Ranger. At this time officers from Eastland Police Department, Eastland Sheriff's Office, Ranger Police Department, and Texas DPS Troopers assisted in the chase.

The van would eventually crash into a tree in a field and the occupants fled on foot.

After a short manhunt, authorities arrested five people – while two remain at large.

Four of the five individuals arrested were illegal aliens and were placed in the Eastland County Jail. The individuals were processed and transferred to the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Juan Eminio Rubio and apprehended at a local residence where he trespassed. Rubio was treated for injuries and transported to the Eastland County Jail.

Rubio was charged with smuggling of persons, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of controlled substances, and tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $230,000.
