60-Year-Old Man Struck by Car and Killed While Bicycling

 

ABILENE, TX – A 60-year-old Abilene man was killed Sunday night after he was struck from behind by Toyota Corolla.

According to the Abilene Police Department, on Apr. 11 at around 9 p.m., officers with the APD were dispatched to the 4000 block of Pine Street for the report of a major crash involving a bicyclist.

When officers arrived they discovered a 2000 Toyota Corolla that had struck the bike from behind. This crash left the bicyclist, 60-year-old Juan Martinez Jr. of Abilene, with extensive injuries. Before being taken to the hospital Martinez died on the scene. 

APD does not believe that Alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash. 

No arrest was made.
