Horrific Head-on Crash Kills Two in West Texas

 

SWEETWATER, TX – Two West Texas drivers were killed in a head on crash Wednesday night near Sweetwater, TX.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Mar. 10 at around 7:10 p.m., troopers with the were dispatched to US-84, at mile marker 438, for the report of a major crash. 

When they arrived, troopers found a 2015 Nissan Armada, a 2003 Chevrolet pickup and a 2017 Dodge pickup had crashed in the west bound lane of the highway.

The driver of the Armada, Kaitlin Jeanne Rodriguez, 28, of Sweetwater, and the driver of the 2003 Chevrolet pickup, Ramon Anthony Guzman, 47, of Snyder, were both pronounced dead on scene.

The driver and passenger of the Dodge pickup were not injured. 

The initial investigation revealed that the Armada was traveling east in the westbound lanes of US 84 while the two pickups were traveling west. The Armada crashed head on with the Chevy pickup. The Chevy pickup then collided with the Dodge pickup.

The driver of the Armada was not wearing her seatbelt while the driver of the Chevy was. 

The road conditions were dry and the weather was cloudy.
