18-Wheeler Driver Killed On Icy Interstate

 

PYOTE, TX -- The weekend snowstorm caused a major crash in Ward County on Sunday morning.

According to DPS,  45-year-old Alexander Garcia of Miami, Florida was stranded on I-20 after his 18-wheeler was disabled from an earlier crash. His vehicle was blocking the eastbound lanes. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that 61-year-old Arturo Ayala of Bellflower, California was also traveling east on I=20 in an 18-wheeler when he came upon the disabled tractor-trailer.

Ayala was beginning to break when his truck went into a skid and hit Garcia's vehicle.

Law enforcement confirmed Garcia died from his injuries at the scene while Ayala was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger in Garcia’s truck was not injured in the crash.
