Odessa Police Respond to More Than 20 Crashes on Icy Roads

ODESSA, TX – Icy roads conditions have caused multiple crashes in Odessa.

According to the Odessa Police Department, as of 8:30 a.m. officers had responded to at least 21 motor vehicle accidents. The crashes include four rollovers.

Law enforcement is asking drivers to be cautious as they travel on slick roads.

OPD shared the following tips:

  • Reduce your speed and maintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front that will allow enough time to stop your vehicle in case of an emergency.
  • Drive with your headlights on and use extra caution when traveling over bridges.
  • Avoid using cruise control and ease off the gas pedal or brakes if you start to skid.
