DPS Searching for Driver Involved In Fatal Hit-and-Run

ODESSA, TX – Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a fatal hit in run on State Highway 302 near Odessa Sunday.

According to the DPS, the preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian was running eastbound on the improved shoulder of the roadway .

A vehicle traveling behind the pedestrian left the roadway and struck the pedestrian from behind and fled the scene.

48-year-old Rebecca Gartrell Rodriguez of San Antonio was pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS troopers are attempting to locate and identify the driver.
