Septuagenarian Killed In Crash With Semi

 

BENJAMIN, TX – A 79-year-old male driver was killed in a fatal crash on Monday near Benjamin, TX.

According to DPS, Donnie Edward Ryder of Benjamin was traveling in a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.

Ryder pulled out in front of a 2016 Freightliner semi-trailer truck traveling on US-82 shortly after 6:00 a.m.

The Malibu then crashed into the left side of the semi. Ryder was pronounced dead after being transported to Knox County Hospital. DPS confirmed he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the semi was not injured and the crash remains under investigation.
