DPS: 3-Year-Old Killed In Crash Involving 18-Wheeler

 

ODESSA, TX – A fatal crash led to the death of a three-year-old in Upton County Saturday.

According to DPS, Juan Amaya of Midland was driving an 18-wheeler on Hwy 349.

The preliminary investigation revealed Amaya was traveling at an unsafe rate of speed in rainy weather when he lost control and slid into a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Leslie Valente, and a two-year-old were transported to the Rankin County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 20-year-old passenger was rushed to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the 3-year-old passenger was declared at the scene.

Amaya was not injured in the crash.
