Drunk 21-Year-Old Run Over and Killed

BIG SPRING, TX -- The Big Spring Police Department has confirmed a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man.

According to BSPD, last Friday night police officers and first responders were dispatched to the 3600 block of S. Hwy 87 for reports of a vehicle crash.

At the scene, officers located 21-year-old Osvaldo Lopez of Brownsville laying on the southbound lane.

Lopez was unresponsive and he was declared dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Lopez was a passenger with Ismael Moreno. Lopez and Moreno were traveling southbound on U.S. 87 in a black 2019 Ford Mustang when they began a verbal argument.

Moreno pulled over and Lopez exited the Mustang. He began running across the highway and multiple lanes of traffic.

As Lopez was crossing the highway he was struck by a white 2004 Chevrolet 2500 Pickup traveling northbound.

The driver of the Chevy pickup will face no charges at this time.

The investigation also revealed Moreno was under the influence of alcohol while driving. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
