Driver Killed in Single Rollover Crash

 

OZONA, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the death of a man on Interstate 10 Saturday near Ozona. 

According to the DPS, on Dec. 12 at around 3:05 p.m., troopers with the DPS were dispatched to IH-1 0, 22 miles West of Ozona, for the report of a rollover crash.

When the troopers arrived, they discovered a 2012 Nissan Armada that had rolled over in the center median.

The driver, Adolfo Cantu Cruz, 58, of Georgetown, was pronounced dead on the scene by JP Evelyn Kerbow.

Further investigation revealed that the Armada was traveling east on Interstate-10. The driver of the Armada failed to drive in a single lane, veering right into the southbound barrow ditch striking two delineator posts before over correcting the wheel to the left re-entering the main roadway and entering into the center median.

The driver overcorrected the wheel to the right causing the vehicle to enter into a side-skid. the Altima rolled over coming to rest inside the center median upside down facing south.

The driver was secured by a safety belt, but suffered fatal injuries during the rollover.

The weather that day was clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
