Deadly Helicopter Crash Near Colorado City

 

COLORADO CITY, TX – Two Colorado City men were killed in a helicopter crash Thursday in Mitchell County.

According to the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office a Robinson R44 helicopter crashed 8 miles southwest of Colorado City killing the pilot and his passenger. 

The deceased have been identified as 31-year-old Zane Whitesides and 32-year-old Zach Pfeuffer.  

Officials believe the two men were on their way to an area ranch.  Whitesides was the pilot and owned a flying company that performed aerial ranch work including gathering cattle, wildlife surveys and hog and coyote hunts.  

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Whitesides family.  

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
