Passenger Killed in Head-on Crash Near Ballinger

 

BALLINGER, TX – A Lubbock man was killed Thursday night following a head-on crash on US 83 near Ballinger.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Dec. 10, troopers with the DPS were dispatched to US 83, just 5 miles north of Ballinger, for the report of a major crash. 

When the troopers arrived, they found a 2007 Chevy Suburban and a 2013 Toyota RAV 4 that crashed in the middle of the roadway.

EMS quickly arrived on scene and took the drivers of both vehicles to the Ballinger Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

The passenger of the Chevy, Brandon Black Johnson, male, 29, of Lubbock, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Reports say he was wearing his seatbelt. 

Investigation revealed that the Chevy was traveling North on US 83 while the RAV 4 was traveling South. The Chevy veered into the southbound lane striking the Rav 4.
