Teen Driver Killed in Rollover Crash near Eden

EDEN, TX – A 17-year-old Uvalde man was killed Sunday afternoon in a rollover crash on US 83 south of Eden, TX.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Nov. 8, troopers with the DPS were dispatched to the US 83, approximately 8 miles south of Eden, for the report of a possible fatal crash.

When they arrived, the troopers discovered a 2002 Mercury Villager that had rolled over in the center median.

Troopers also found the driver who had been ejected from the vehicle. Judge Scott Spoonts pronounced Jesus Daniel Perez,17, of Uvalde, TX dead on scene.

The preliminary investigation showed the Villager was traveling northbound on US 83 when it swerved into the center median. The driver corrected to the right and went into a side skid to the left. The Villager then began rolling and rolled at least two and a half times before coming to rest on its top facing east in the center median. The driver of the Villager was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The weather was clear and the road was dry.

The posted speed limit at the spot of the crash is 75 mph.
