Fatal Crash Leaves Two Dead and One Hospitalized

 

SWEETWATER, TX – An early morning crash left two dead and one hospitalized near Sweetwater on Saturday.

Two pickup trucks crashed on SH-70 after one of the drivers veered onto oncoming traffic.

According to investigators with the Texas Departent of Public Safety, Julie Michelle Barela, 54, and Randy Lee Barela, 56, of San Antonio, were killed in the crash. Barela was driving the pickup truck that crashed into Jade Ethan Roby, 25, of Sweetwater.

Roby was transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital and his condition is unknown.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
