This is terrible. I pray the child will recover. The guy that hit him better be ready for a lawsuit. With that being said, that is a crazy busy street at 5pm, or anytime. Why would a 7 yr old child be riding his bike anywhere near there? They have walk signals but does he know how to use them? I do hope he will be alright. As a mother myself I don't let my kids ride in the street. To many crazy drivers drunck, high or on their phones.
