SAN ANGELO, TX – The driver who ran over a seven-year-old boy at the five-way intersection of Ave. N and College Hills Blvd. was arrested for being under the influence Wednesday.
25-year-old Jesus Martinez failed a field sobriety test at the scene. He was arrested for intoxication assault.
A passenger in the offending vehicle was also arrested.
As we first reported, the seven-year-old was traveling across College Hills Blvd. from west to east when he was struck by a white Chevy Suburban traveling north on College Hills when he hit the boy.
He was so seriously injured officials considered a life light to another hospital but canceled because of the weather.
Police identify the driver as 25-year-old Jesus Martinez who was believed to be under the influence.
Martinez failed a field sobriety test.
Martinez was arrested for intoxication assault.
His Passenger, Daveonte Carson, 25, was arrested for possession of the reefer.
Additional charges are pending.
Police are asking for anyone with any additional information on this crash to call the police.
