Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 67

BRECKENRIDGE, TX – A 26-year-old was killed Friday afternoon in a head on collision while traveling on US Hwy 67.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on May 15, troopers with the Texas DPS were dispatched to US Hwy 67 just three miles North of Breckenridge in Stephens County for the report of a possible fatal crash.

When troopers arrived, they found a 2016 Chevrolet passenger vehicle and a 2019 Chevrolet pickup that had crashed in the middle of the roadway.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup transported to Breckenridge Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet passenger vehicle, Mercedes Elaine Fulton, female, 26, of Iowa Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers have determined that the Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling North on 67 while the Chevrolet pickup was traveling South. The Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the road. As the vehicles approached each other the Chevrolet pickup veered left into the northbound lane to avoid the Chevrolet passenger vehicle. The Chevrolet passenger vehicle veered right to return to the northbound where the head-on crash occurred.
